The guard dog is ready to take on the world if the need be, if at stake is a home it sees as its own and a family it loves and feels bound to protect.
Among the most notorious guard dog breeds anybody can name the German Shepherd, the Mastiff and the Doberman.
The guard dogs are usually large in size. If well trained and cared for, they may offer a feeling of security to any home and also be good companion for kids.
Here are the most reliable guard dog breeds in the world.
1. Caucasian shepherd
The Caucasian shepherd is very popular in Georgia, Turkey, Afghanistan and Russia. It can weigh from 46 to 82 kg at a height of almost 88 centimeters. Because of its impressive size you need a lot of space to accommodate it but the good part is that this breed dwells well in any climate.
It is an alert breed always ready to protect its territory and very aggressive about that. It is mandatory to teach it to socialize in order to temper its aggression.
2. Argentinian Mastiff
The Argentinian Mastiff has a beautiful white short fur. It is a fierce territorial dog. It can reach 62 centimeters in height and it was used to catch villains and fugitives. As many other guard dogs, it needs typical training in order to temper its aggression. It doesn’t tolerate other dogs around and it can be very dangerous if provoked.
The Bullmastiff is a sturdy, alert breed, considered one of the best guard dogs in the world. In the 19th century it was used to keep poachers away. It has a height of 63-69 centimeters and can weigh between 50 and 59 kilograms. It follows its instincts very well and can easily separate friends from enemies.
4. German Shepherd
The German Shepherd has 22 to 40 kg and a height of 60 centimeters. It is a fearless defender of the family with a responsible, grown up behavior when it has children around. Its intelligence and learning ability makes it the perfect guard dog for families with kids.
The Doberman is an extremely intelligent, loyal and alert dog. Even if it is known for its aggressive behavior it can easily control it. If it is well trained the Doberman can stop an intruder without hurting. At 34-45 kilograms it is a very strong and agile dog.
